چکیده

Abstract. Antarctic surface mass balance (SMB) is largely determined by precipitation over the continent and subject to regional climate variability related Southern Annular Mode (SAM) other climatic drivers at large scale. Locally however, firn snowpack processes are important in determining SMB total of Antarctica global sea level. Study of the models of large-scale atmospheric circulation system model on intesify rainfall in Ardebil plain

Atmospheric circulation is important to determine the surface climate and environment, and affect regional climate and surface features. In this study, to quantify its effect, the classification system, developed by Lamb is applied to obtain circulation information for Ardabil, North West Province in Iran, on a daily basis, and is a method to classify synoptic weather for study area. For that p...

Some Atmospheric Processes Governing the Large-Scale Tropical Circulation in Idealized Aquaplanet Simulations

The large-scale tropical atmospheric circulation is analyzed in idealized aquaplanet simulations using an atmospheric general circulation model. Idealized sea surface temperatures (SSTs) are used as lowerboundary conditions to provoke modifications of the atmospheric general circulation. Results show that 1) an increase in the meridional SST gradients of the tropical region drastically strength...

Micro scale exchange processes between surface and subsurface water

Data are presented of experiments with turbulent open channel flow over rough surfaces and large relative submergence, which are conducted in two series with different geometric boundary conditions. During the experiments an oscillating fluid motion in the uppermost filter layer is visualised by the injection of a tracer dye. It is shown that this oscillating fluid motion is driven by highly un...

Periodic variability in the large-scale Southern Hemisphere atmospheric circulation.

Periodic behavior in the climate system has important implications not only for weather prediction but also for understanding and interpreting the physical processes that drive climate variability. Here we demonstrate that the large-scale Southern Hemisphere atmospheric circulation exhibits marked periodicity on time scales of approximately 20 to 30 days. The periodicity is tied to the Southern...
